Kona Storage Tips - Packing Your Mini-Storage Unit

Here are some great tips on using a self storage unit in Hawaii, also called mini storage. Make sure you store your belongings right.

Kona self-storage units are a great way to get some more space where you live and also gives you a chance to organize and properly preserve your belongings. Use the tips below to help pack your kona storage facility correctly.

Make sure and acquire proper packing materials which may include special boxes for your wardrobe and other items, bubble wrap or styrofoam popcorn, ropes and cords, packing tape, and permanent markers.

Many Kona storage facilities sell these and other materials you will need for proper packing. Also check office supply stores for good packing equipment.

Don’t overfill boxes. This can cause damage to the belongings, possibly break the container, and also may hurt your back when you try to lift too much.

Fill up the empty spaces in boxes with packing material which could be styrofoam or crunched up newspapers.

Put very heavy items in their own boxes. Also make sure electronic equipment such as computers and cameras are packed in their own box.

Plan out your overall strategy ahead of time so that your storage facility is well-organized and you make use of the space in an optimal manner. You also want to be able to find your belongings when you need them, and you don’t want to have to go to the back of the self storage unit to get an item you may need in the near future.
